MASP Spring Conference March 9, 2012 St. Louis, Missouri – St. Louis Marriott West Featured Speaker: Dr. Maria Kovacs University of Pittsburg School of Medicine, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania About the Speaker: Internationally renowned for her work with depressive disorders in children and adolescents, Dr. Maria Kovacs has been in mental health for over forty years.  She currently is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Pittsburg School of Medicine and the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, and is a Fellow of the American Psychological Society. The major focus of her career has been on childhood and adolescent depressive disorders, as well as treatment. Dr. Kovacs is the author of the Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI™) which was published by MHS in 1992.  The CDI™ has been revised and the Children’s Depression Inventory 2nd Edition™ (CDI2™) was recently released. Abstract: The participants of this workshop will be introduced to the newest, revised, and re- standardized version of the Children’s Depression Inventory 2nd Edition (CDI 2), a suite of tools that allows the multi-informant assessment of childhood depression. The first part of the presentation will focus on the clinical features and diagnosis of depressive disorders. The second part of the presentation will highlight changes that have been incorporated into the CDI2, address the importance of assessing childhood depression from multiple perspectives, and provide illustrations and guidelines regarding how to integrate CDI information from various respondents. Session attendees will learn strategies to interpret CDI 2 results and apply them to guide recommendations for interventions in educational settings.   SHOP MASP!
